Mandate

The Conference of the Parties (COP), in its decision   1/CP.18, decided to undertake a work programme on results-based finance in 2013, including two workshops, to progress the full implementation of the activities referred to in decision   1/CP.16, paragraph 70. It decided that the aim of the work programme is to contribute to the ongoing efforts to scale up and improve the effectiveness of finance for the activities referred to in decision 1/CP.16, paragraph 70 (hereinafter referred to as REDD-plus), taking into account decision   2/CP.17, paragraphs 66 and 67.

The work programme addresses options to achieve this objective, taking into account a wide variety of sources as referred to in decision 2/CP.17, paragraph 65, including:

• Ways and means to transfer payments for results-based actions;
• Ways to incentivize non-carbon benefits;
• Ways to improve the coordination of results-based finance.

The COP requested the co-chairs, assisted by the secretariat, to support the workshops and to prepare a report on the workshops for the consideration of the COP at its nineteenth session, with a view to the COP adopting a decision on this matter. The COP decided that the work programme shall end by the nineteenth session of the COP unless it decided otherwise.

The workshop was held in-session at the venue of the Bonn Climate Change Conference, access was open to all registered participants of this Conference. The working language of the workshop was English.
