Round table on the means to reach emission reduction targets

Mandate
The Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG-KP), at its resumed fourth session, requested the secretariat to organize, under the guidance of the Chair of the AWG-KP, a round table on the means that may be available to Annex I Parties to reach their emission reduction targets. The AWG-KP held an in-session thematic workshop on 1–3 April 2008 in Bangkok on the above matters. Parties discussed ways to enhance the effectiveness of the means and their contribution to sustainable development. A summary of the discussions is contained in the annex to the pdf-icon report of the fifth session of the AWG-KP.

The pdf-icon information note (136 kB) on the round table presents a preliminary structure for the round table and outlines its objective and approach.
