In accordance with article 27 (1) of the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Government of Canada notified the Secretary-General of the United Nations that it had decided to withdraw from the Kyoto Protocol.  The action will become effective for Canada on 15 December 2012 in accordance with article 27 (2).
