The definitions of the different fields used in the interface for flexible query are as follows:
-
Party: List of the Parties to the Convention, as well as European Union (15) and special
groups like Annex I, Annex I EIT, and Annex I non-EIT. The list is arranged in 3 categories:
Groups; Annex I Parties; and Non-Annex I Parties. The Parties are in alphabetical order within
each category.
-
Year: List of years from 1990 to the year for which the latest GHG inventories are available, as
well as the base year. Base year data in the data interface relate to the base year under the
Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC). The base year under the Convention is defined slightly
differently than the base year under the Kyoto Protocol. The base year emissions under the Kyoto
Protocol are provided in the data interface under the KP data - UNFCCC section.
-
Category: List of the CRF source/sink categories, Population, and GDP
at market prices.
-
Gas: List for the selection of GHG or group of GHGs and contains the
following:
- Aggregate GHGs - sum of CO2, CH4, N2O, HFCs, PFCs, and
SF6
- CO2
- CH4
- N2O
- HFCs
- PFCs
- SF6
- Aggregate F-gases - sum of HFCs, PFCs, and SF6
- Individual HFCs (each gas separately)
- Individual PFCs (each gas separately)
- NOx
- CO
- NMVOC
- SO2
-
Classification: The dropdown list is context-dependent, i.e., the
content of the list depends on the sector to which the selected category belongs:
- in Energy sector "classification" means fuels;
- in Agriculture sector, it defines various kinds of livestock;
- in LULUCF/LUCF sector it means various LULUCF/LUCF activities;
- in Waste sector it means wastewater streams.
If the user desires to query data for aggregate of all the categories, then the "Total for
Category" should be selected in the dropdown list of classification.
-
Types of Value: For a given category, an "emission"
estimate can be different in the meaning. For example, for a given LULUCF category, there may be
emissions, or removals, or a net result of both. In industrial processes, estimates exist for
actual emissions as well as for potential emissions. To specify what kind of estimates is needed,
the field entitled "Type of Value" is used. It contains following options, but these
options are dependent on category and classification that one selects:
- Net emissions/removals
- Actual emissions only
- Potential emissions only
- Emissions from feedstock and non-energy use of fuels
- Recovery
- Activity data
- Implied emission factor
Note that the "Net emissions/removals" mean "total emissions" in the case of
sectors including energy, industrial processes, solvent and other product use, agriculture and
waste while it refers to "net emissions/removals" for LULUCF and Other sectors. The
term "Net emissions/removals" in context of industrial processes sector (usually for
F-gases) means a combination of actual/potential emissions, depending on what was reported. As
per the Revised IPCC Guidelines for national GHG inventory (1996), the potential emission values
are used only in case of unavailability of the actual emission values.
-
Units: This dropdown list contains the units of the measurement of GHG
emissions/removals, activity data, implied emission factors, population and GDP.
