GHG data: The secretariat has developed a data interface which provides access to the most recent GHG data
reported by countries that are Parties to the Climate Change Convention, and other GHG data
relating specifically to the Kyoto Protocol reported by developed countries which have
ratified the Kyoto Protocol.
The REDD Web Platform
publishes information submitted by Parties, relevant organizations and stakeholders with the
aim of sharing such information and experiences relating to REDD-plus.
Training materials: The secretariat developed the training courses
on the technical review of greenhouse gas inventories from developed countries and reviews
under Article 8 of the Kyoto Protocol. The training courses are offered to the experts
nominated to the roster of experts by their national focal points. In addition to this, the
CGE, under its work programme for 2010–2012, updated its training
materials on national communications, which include: national GHG inventories; V&A
assessments; and mitigation assessment. These updated training materials have been published
for use by national experts involved in the preparation of national communications and other
interested stakeholders.
IPCC national GHG inventory guidelines: Both developed and developing
countries compiled their national GHG inventories on the basis of relevant methodological guidelines developed by
the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Cooperation and support: The Convention has put in place several mechanisms
to assist developing countries with implementing mitigation action under the Convention. Such
mechanisms relate to finance, technology and capacity building. International
institutions like the Global Environment Facility,
the green climate fund and the national communication support program also play an important
role in supporting developing counties.
