|
UNFCCC's role in assisting countries to implement the Convention and to undertake education,
training and public awareness raising activities makes it an information-intensive secretariat.
The library plays a major role in collecting, processing and disseminating this information, with a
particular emphasis on the process of negotiation, implementation and follow-up to the Convention.
It serves as the archival and distribution unit for all official UNFCCC documents.
In addition, the library responds to the information needs of the secretariat and Parties to the
Convention, as well as other national, international, governmental or non-governmental bodies or
agencies that have been admitted by the Parties as observers in accordance to Article 7, paragraph 6 of the
Convention. .

Goals
|
|
The primary goals of the Library and Documentation Centre are to:
|
1.

Support Article 6 and
Article 8 of the
Convention through the sharing and dissemination of climate change information.
|
|
2.
|
Facilitate the exchange of climate change information by the Parties of the
Convention and any body or agency, whether national, international, governmental or
non-governmental, that has been admitted by the Parties as an observer, in
accordance with Article 7, paragraph 6
of the Convention.

3.
|
Support actions of the Parties of the Convention and any body or agency admitted by
the Parties as an observer in accordance with Article 7, paragraph 6
of the Convention in implementing Article 6 of the
Convention dealing with education, training and public awareness.
