The Conference of the Parties (COP), by decision 1/CP.16, paragraph 38, requested the secretariat to organize workshops to clarify the assumptions and conditions related to the attainment of the economy-wide emission reduction targets communicated by developed country Parties, including the use of carbon credits from market-based mechanisms and land use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF) activities, and options and ways to increase their level of ambition
