This note compiles and analyses available information on ways and means to enhance equitable regional and subregional distribution of projects under the clean development mechanism (CDM). It presents information on the current distribution of CDM projects and on the barriers to a more equitable distribution that have been identified. It also explores actions undertaken so far to improve project distribution and further actions that could be undertaken in the future. The note draws on a number of information sources, including submissions by Parties, the work of the CDM Executive Board, work conducted under the Nairobi Framework, and studies prepared by international agencies and other research organizations
