Implementation of the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC. Submission from the Global Climate Observing System secretariat.

The Conference of the Parties (COP), by its decision 5/CP.10, expressed its appreciation to the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) for preparing the Implementation Plan for the Global Observing System for Climate in Support of the UNFCCC. By the same decision, the COP requested the secretariat of the GCOS to provide information to the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) on how the actions identified in the implementation plan are being implemented. The SBSTA, at its twenty-first session (FCCC/SBSTA/2004/13, para. 103), further invited the GCOS secretariat, in conjunction with the GCOS sponsoring agencies, to report to the SBSTA, at its twentythird session, on how these actions have been incorporated in the plans and actions of the GCOS sponsoring agencies. This document contains a report by the GCOS secretariat to facilitate the consideration of the above-mentioned implementation plan by the SBSTA.
