Media services
International Media Centre. The International
Media Centre, located in the Annex building of Vigyan Bhawan, offers various services
to accredited members of the press, including TV and radio coverage facilities,
work facilities for the print media and a UN Press Documents Counter.
Hours: During the conference, the International Media Centre
is operational 24 hours a day (limited services between midnight and 7 a.m.)
The Media Coordinator, the Conference Spokesperson and the Government
Press Liaison Officer have their offices on the Ground Floor of the International
Media Centre, Annex building of the Vigyan Bhawan.
The Media Information Desk located in the Annex building of
Vigyan Bhawan arranges bookings for the Press Conference Room and facilitates
interviews with UN officials or delegates.

Information on UNFCCC and
Climate Change
The Climate Change Kiosk. Located in the atrium
of Vigyan Bhawan on the ground floor, the Climate Change Kiosk is staffed daily
between 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Climate Change Kiosk's primary goal is to provide
information about climate change and the secretariat. It is a resource for anyone
interested in:
* Information on climate change information sources;
* Background information on the climate change process and
the secretariat;
* Who's doing what in the process;
* Who's doing what in the secretariat;
* How to contact members of the secretariat;
* How to obtain access to, or copies of, secretariat information
products or services.
The Climate Change Kiosk includes display panels as well as
a computer with an Internet connection which will be used in providing assistance
on how to:
* Find relevant climate change information using the UNFCCC library online;
* Search and retrieve climate change related information
from the web;
* Evaluate the quality of web-based information;
* Locate other sources of climate change information.
A special feature of the kiosk is Climate Talk Days
where representatives of IGOs, NGOs, Business and Industry and Governments are
invited to give 10-15 minute presentations relating to one of the following themes:

The goal of these theme days is to demonstrate
linkages between, and share information about, the work of Parties, IGOs, NGOs
and others that are active in the climate change process. Presenters in the Climate
Talk theme days should be prepared to give a short talk, presentation or demonstration
on objectives, work or projects related to a particular theme (10-15 minutes)
and be willing to grant permission to record and webcast the talk, presentation
or demonstration, and to make available for informational purposes related information
(e.g. fact sheets, powerpoint slides, etc.). The webcast of the talk and other
information materials will be posted on the UNFCCC COP 8 website. For more information,

General Services
New Delhi Information. Information on hotel
reservations, local transportation, train and air travel, as well as tourist information
about New Delhi and India, is available at the Business Centre, ground floor,
atrium.
Pigeonholes. Delegates of Parties who wish
to leave messages for other participants are requested to use the pigeonholes
located at the Documents Distribution Counter.
Representatives of non-governmental organizations may use the
message board located in the main foyer to post messages. The posting of messages
needs to be approved by UNFCCC.

to representatives of Observer organizations.
Catering Facilities. Snack bars can be found
on the ground floor, atrium and mezzanine floor over main foyer. A variety of
restaurants are found in the food plaza located beside the annex building. A coffee
corner will be made available in the writing/press area of the International Media
Centre.
Deliveries. Participants expecting deliveries
to the Vigyan Bhawan should contact the Information Desk, located in the main
foyer.
Bank. A bank will be made available for participants
of the conference. Services include the cashing of travellersÍ cheques and exchange
of money. Pls. note that the exchange of currency (from rupee to US$) is restricted.

Events
Receptions. A reception hosted by the Government
of India to welcome participants to the conference will be held on Wednesday evening,
23 October in the Ashoka Hotel. Please refer to the CCTV monitors for further
information.
NGO Party. An NGO party will be held on Saturday
evening, 26 October in the International Habitat House.
Special events and exhibits.
A preliminary schedule of special events and a list of exhibits held during COP
8 will be made available at the Information Desk. For updates and changes in the
calendar, please see the Daily Programme and the announcements on the CCTV monitors
as well as the message board for special events and exhibits in the main foyer.
In order to provide a better focus for information on events
and to avoid paper wastage, participants are kindly requested to post flyers and
posters regarding special events, exhibits or meetings only on this message board
and to inform the secretariat (Ms Barbara Black Tel.: 011-302 2335) before posting
any material. Please note that flyers posted in other areas of the conference
centre will be removed.

Remarks
Emergencies. In case of a medical emergency,
please contact the medical staff located near the Security Office, ground floor
of Vigyan Bhawan.
For other emergencies, immediately contact UN security staff
(wearing either a UN uniform or a UN armband), who will be located at the entrance
of the conference area, or call the following number:

Badges. Access to the conference
area is restricted to registered participants of the meetings. In order to help
enforce the high security standards of the secretariat, participants are expected
to wear their badges as soon as they are issued. They must be worn at all times
and in all areas for the duration of the conference.
Badges are issued only on the basis of a letter
of nomination from Parties, Observer States or accredited Observer organizations.
Lost badges must be reported to the Registration Desk immediately.
Personal items. Please be aware that unattended
items will be removed. Contact UN security staff, located near the entrance, for
lost and found items.
Food or drinks are not permitted in the meeting
rooms.
Smoking area. Please note that smoking is not
permitted on the meeting premises, except in the designated areas.
