The Conference of Parties (COP), at its seventh session decided to establish a least developed countries
expert group (LEG), to be nominated by Parties, with the objective of supporting the preparation and
implementation strategy of national adaptation programmes of action (NAPAs).
The COP, at its sixteenth session, reviewed the progress of the work and terms of reference of the expert
group, decided to extend the LEG for five years under its current mandate.

The mandate of the LEG was extended at COP 16 in Cancun for a period of five years (2011-2015)

|
The LEG is constituted of 13 Members. New members were elected in December 2010 at COP 16 in Cancun

LEG work
programme
|
The SBI at its thirty-third session (COP 16) requested the LEG to develop a two-year rolling
programme of work for consideration by the SBI at its first sessional meeting of each year, and to
report on its work to the SBI at each of its sessions. The full work programme and the previous work

The COP in decisions 29/CP.7 and 6/CP.16, requests the LEG to report on its work to the SBI at

Since its establishment in 2001, the LEG has prepared various documents and publications including the

The LEG has conducted several workshops for LDCs on the preparation and implementation of NAPA taking
