Message board from LTF co-chairs to Participants of the E-forum on Long-term
finance
Dear Participants of the E-forum on Long-term finance,
We are encouraged to have found out that there is great enthusiasm about the work programme on long-term
finance from Parties, public and private finance community, civil society and academia alike. As you may be
aware, the decision to undertake a work programme on long-term finance in 2012, including workshops, was taken
by the COP at its seventeenth session to progress on long-term finance in the context of decision 1/CP.16,
paragraphs 97–101. The aim of the work programme is to contribute to the on-going efforts to scale up the
mobilization of climate change finance after 2012. It will analyze options for the mobilization of resources
from a wide variety of sources, public and private, bilateral and multilateral, including alternative sources
and relevant analytical work on the climate-related financing needs of developing countries.
Building on the success of the first workshop, we believe that this can be achieved through continued
transparent and inclusive work programme. This is essential for the work programme to benefit from the wealth
of knowledge that is being shared with us. In so doing we believe it is essential to maintain an informed and
robust dialogue between Parties, public and private finance community, civil society and academia in the coming
months.
We are therefore delighted to launch the E-forum on Long-term finance during the Bangkok sessions and invite
you to join us as we enter this further phase of the work programme we are undertaking. We invite you to
exchange views and share technical and analytic information on the topics of the E-forum.
To achieve this we need your involvement, engagement and support. Further below you will find the schedule for
the subforums along with useful weblinks. We look forward to your participation in the E-forum.
