Action for Climate Empowerment at COP 23/ CMP 13/ CMA 1.2 - Events and Activities

The twenty-third session of the Conference of the Parties (COP23) took place from 6 to 17 November 2017 in Bonn, Germany. During this time, an interactive agenda for the implementation of Article 6 of the Convention (Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE)) and Article 12 of the Paris Agreement was available. A variety of events and activities related to climate change education, training, public access to information, public awareness, public participation, and international cooperation, as well as youth were organized. The Young and Future Generations Day took place during the first week of the COP. This day provided young people with an opportunity to present youth climate action from around the world and set the stage to engage with decision makers, stakeholders and others who are active in combating climate change. During the second week of the conference, an entire day was dedicated to Climate Change Education (CCE). A number of events and activities covering CCE issues took place, including a high-level event on education. This event brought together environment and education ministers and international organizations, to discuss how education can enhance the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the SDGs.
