The Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), by
its decision 1/CP.16, established a Technology Mechanism which consists of a Technology Executive Committee
and a Climate Technology Centre and Network with their respective functions.
The COP, at its seventeenth session in Durban, South Africa, decided to launch the selection process for the
host of Climate Technology Centre, in order to make the Technology Mechanism fully operational in 2012.
The call for
proposals (455 kB) is hereby issued by the UNFCCC secretariat as requested by the COP to invite
interested organizations including consortia of organizations to submit their proposals for hosting the
Climate Technology Centre.
The proposals must be submitted to the secretariat not later than 16 March 2012 at 12
noon Central European Time. Further information with regard to the submission and
