Theme: Reducing Vulnerabilities, Responding to Emerging Challenges, and Enhancing Food Security in
LDCs
Introduction

The event was intended to inform the new programme of action on how to help build the resilience of the
LDCs to address vulnerabilities posed by climate change, natural disasters, food insecurity and
external economic shocks. It considered:
• The most critical vulnerabilities faced by LDCs;
• How to integrate socio-political dimensions within the larger context of strategies for
LDC development;
• What are the mechanisms that the new programme of action should incorporate;
• How to increase resilience to shocks by enhancing partnerships and collaboration.
