Welcome to the Climate Change Information Network. Also known as CC:iNet, this web portal
serves as a clearinghouse for information sources on public information, education and training
in the field of climate change. It is designed to help governments, organizations and
individuals gain rapid and easy access to ideas, strategies, contacts, experts and materials
that can be used to motivate and empower people to take effective action on climate change.
CC:iNet has been established at the request of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention
on Climate Change. Their underlying aim is to support Article 6 of the Convention, which calls on
governments to promote education, training and public awareness on climate change. The menu items on
the left of this page will guide you through the resources available on the clearinghouse.
Asia Pacific Adaptation Network
The Asia Pacific
Adaptation Network (APAN) is a regional programme that aims to support governments and
non-governmental organizations to build, manage and apply adaptation knowledge. Its mission is to build
climate change resilient and sustainable human systems, ecosystems and economies in the Asia-Pacific
Region and improve understanding and knowledge of adaptation to past, current and future climate
conditions.
My World. The United Nations Global Survey for a Better World
My World is a global survey developed by the United Nations with several partner organizations.
It asks individuals which six of sixteen possible issues they think would make the most difference to
their lives, one of them being action taken on climate change. Citizens of all ages, genders and
backgrounds, particularly the world's poor and marginalized communities, are called upon to get
involved and let the world know their priorities and views, so that world leaders can be informed as
they begin the process of setting the next global development agenda.
"Climate
Literacy: Navigating Climate Conversations" is a free course offered by the University of
British Columbia tackling both the scientific and socio-political dimensions of climate change. The
course introduces the basics of the climate system, models and predictions, human and natural
impacts, mitigative and adaptive responses, and the evolution of climate policy. Furthermore, it
explores the basic concepts and terms needed to understand the science of climate change, and the
available mitigation, adaptation and policy options.
The Africa
Adaptation Knowledge Network (AAKNet) is a platform aimed at building a shared knowledge base to
help shape an innovative community of practice. Implemented by the Global Adaptation Network, it
builds on ongoing efforts around the region to mobilize existing knowledge and best adaptation
practices. Practitioners, policy makers, researchers and community members will be brought together
so as to compare, contrast and collate the lessons learnt from their actions addressing climate
risks.
