Updates on consultations on elections: Tuesday, 9 December 2014, in Lima, Peru

The Chair of the consultations, Vice President Sylla, has invited groups to submit the nominations to the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage Associated with Climate Change Impacts, in view of the agreement reached on the composition of the Committee during the consultations by the President.
 
To date, approximately 80 per cent of the nominations have been submitted, with others outstanding. 
 
In particular, the nomination for the COP Rapporteur remains pending.  Chairs of regional groups have been requested to urgently reach agreement on this nomination so as to facilitate the smooth election of the COP Bureau on Friday, as well as for all other pending nominations.

Updates on consultations on elections: Friday, 5 December 2014, in Lima, Peru

The consultations on elections, chaired by Mr. Cheikh Ndiaye Sylla, Vice-President of the COP/CMP, with the Chairs and Coordinators of regional groups and constituencies concluded on Friday, 5 December.

Chairs and Coordinators provided updates on the nominations agreed within their respective groups and constituencies.

Chairs and Coordinators were urged to conclude their consultations and submit the final nominations as soon as possible in order to ensure the timely election by the COP, CMP and ADP at the close of the session. In particular, the nominations to the Bureaux of the COP/CMP, ADP and subsidiary bodies.

Chairs and Coordinators were also urged to be prepared to submit the nominations to the Warsaw Executive Committee on Loss and Damage as soon as agreement is reached on the governance and composition of the Committee.

Finally, Chairs and Coordinators were also reminded that for those nominations that are not received in a timely manner for the elections at the closure of the conference, the current officers will remain in office or the position will remain vacant, where appropriate and in accordance with the relevant rules of procedure.


Updates on consultations on elections: Wednesday, 3 December 2014, in Lima, Peru

The consultations on elections, chaired by Mr. Cheikh Ndiaye Sylla, Vice-President of the COP/CMP, with the Chairs and Coordinators of regional groups and constituencies were held on Wednesday, 3 December, from 13:15 - 14:00 hours.

The Chair reiterated the importance of submitting all nominations by Friday, 5 December, 2014.

Chairs and Coordinators informed that they are still continuing consulting within and between their respective groups and constituencies on the nominations.

The next consultations on Elections are scheduled for Friday, 5 December 2014.
