Update of Friday, 7 December 2012 at 23:45 hours
The final consultations on the nominations of officers for election were held today at 23:00 hours. Agreement
was reached on the nominees to the COP Bureau, as well as the SBI Vice Chair and Rapporteur.
However nominations remain outstanding for the CDM Executive Board, JISC and CTCN Advisory Board, and groups
and constituencies have been encouraged to continue to consult and submit the nominations to the secretariat
as soon as possible, and for the CTCN Advisory Board by 14 March 2013.
Those nominees received by the secretariat before the closing of the COP and CMP will be forwarded
for election of the conference. In accordance with established practice, nominees received by the
secretariat after the close of COP 18 and CMP 8 will be deemed elected at COP 18/CMP 8.
Update of Friday, 7 December 2012 at 20:00 hours
The eighth consultations on the nominations of officers for elections were held today at 18:00 hours. Chairs
and Coordinators provided updates on the nominations submitted to the secretariat,and their consultations
on outstanding nominations.
The Chair reminded groups to reach agreement on a nomination for the position of Rapporteur of the COP and
CMP Bureau, to ensure the election of the complete COP 18 and CMP 8 Bureau at this session. The Chair also
informed Groups that an agreement has been reached on the membership of the Advisory Board of the CTCN, and
urged groups to submit nominations today so that the COP can proceed to elect the representatives to the CTCN
Advisory Board before the closing of the session.
The Chair reminded groups that failure of the COP to elect the Advisory Board at COP 18 may result in delay
in the operationalization of the CTCN.

Update of Friday, 7 December 2012 at 16:00
The seventh consultations on the nominations of officers for elections were held today at 13:30 hours. Chairs
and Coordinators provided updates on the nominations agreed and submitted to the secretariat. The Chair noted
that eight nominations have been received by the secretariat for the seven positions of Vice President of the
COP and CMP Bureau. The Chair requested regional groups to consult and reach agreement on which of the
nominees for Vice President would shift to the position of Rapporteur, noting that the COP cannot proceed
with the elections without a candidate for Rapporteur of the COP Bureau. The Chair also urged groups to
consult further on the nomination for SBI Rapporteur. Chairs were also invited to submit nominations to the
CTCN Advisory Board so that elections can be held here in Doha, and to inform the secretariat of any changes
to the membership of the CGE.
The next consultations are set for Friday, 7 December 2012, at 18:00 hours.
Update of Thursday, 6 December 2012
The sixth consultations on the nominations of officers for elections were held today. Chairs and Coordinators
provided updates on the nominations agreed and submitted to the secretariat, including the nominations from
regional groups to the "Commas Committee" for the draft amendment to the Kyoto Protocol. Chairs and
Coordinators were reminded to submit nominations for the Rapporteur of the Bureau of the COP, as well as for
the Bureau of the SBI. With respect to the CGE and the CTCN Advisory Board, Chairs and Coordinators were
invited to continue to monitor progress on the negotiations of these two bodies and to submit the nominations
to the secretariat as soon as the negotiations were concluded.

Update of Wednesday, 5 December 2012
The fifth consultations on the nominations of officers for the elections were held today. The Chair of the
consultations reminded Chairs and Coordinators of the deadline for the submission of nominations, which is
set for 8 pm on Thursday 6 December. Chairs and Coordinators were also informed to continue to monitor the
negotiations on the CGE and the Advisory Board of the CTCN, and be prepared to submit these nominations
before the end of the session. Chairs and Coordinators provided information on the ongoing
consultations.

Update of Tuesday, 4 December 2012
The fourth consultations on the nominations of officers for the elections were held today. The Chair of the
consultations reiterated the President's request for Chairs and Coordinators to intensify their
consultations on elections and reach agreement on the nominations by the deadline of 8 pm on Thursday 6
December. The Chairs and Coordinators provided information on the ongoing consultations.
The next consultations are set for Wednesday, 5 December 2012.
Update of Saturday, 1 December 2012
The third consultations on the nominations of officers for the elections were held today. The Chair of the
consultations conveyed the message that the President urged Chairs and Coordinators to intensify their
consultations on elections. The Chair reminded Parties and Coordinators of Groups and Constituencies that
only two out of over 70 nominations had been received. The Chairs and Coordinators provided information on
the ongoing consultations. As no nominations for SBI Vice-Chair and Rapporteur were received, it was
agreed at the consultations to recommend to the SBI Chair, following the precedent at COP 17, to propose in
the plenary that SBI invites the COP, as an exception to rule 27.6 of the draft Rules of procedure, to
elect the SBI Vice-Chair and Rapporteur at its the closing meeting on Friday, 7 December 2012. The SBI
Vice-Chair and Rapporteur will continue in office in accordance with rule 22.2 of the draft Rules of
procedure.
The next consultations are set for Monday, 3 December 2012.
Update of Thursday, 29 November 2012
The second consultations on the nominations of officers for the elections were held today. The
Chairs and Coordinators of regional groups and constituencies provided updates of the consultations within
their groups and constituencies, including on the nominations agreed so far. The Chair of the consultations
urged the regional groups and constituencies to intensify consultations in order to meet the deadlines for
the nominations, in particular the deadline for the SBI Vice-Chair and Rapporteur for the nominations at the
SBI closing on Saturday, 1 December 2012; and the deadline for the other nominations set by the President of
Thursday, 6 December 2012.

Update of Tuesday, 27 November 2012
Consultations on the nominations of officers for the elections to be held in Doha were held
today. The Chair of the consultations reminded the Chairs and Coordinators of regional groups and
constituencies to reach agreement in their respective groups and submit the nominations in a timely manner in
order to meet the deadline for the nominations, which has been set by the President for Thursday, 6
December 2012.
The next consultations are set for Thursday, 29 November 2012.
