IWMI is a non-profit organization with offices in over 10 countries across Asia and Africa and
Headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is one of 15 international research centers supported by
the network of 60 governments, private foundations and international and regional organizations
collectively known as the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
IWMI's Mission is to improve the management of land and water resources for food, livelihoods and
nature. IWMI carries out research into land and water management to improve food security
worldwide.

Efforts to improve land and water management for food, livelihoods and the environment with a
particular focus on the role of water and agriculture in climate change adaptation and mitigation
policies and practice.
This pledge responds to the following work areas of the Nairobi work programme:
