practice
|
|
|
|
Under its activities targeted at climate change adaptation, Wetlands International aims to:
- Assess the full potential contribution of wetland functioning towards accomplishing adaptation to climate
change and to evaluate the consequences of changing wetland conditions for adaptation strategies.
- Share experiences on community-based wetland conservation, restoration and management as a practical tool
for climate change adaptation; mainstream the role of relevant services provided by wetland ecosystems in
local, national and international adaptation policies and plans.
- Contribute to increased adaptive capacity of wetlands and surrounding areas through improved wetland
conservation and restoration focusing specifically on i) coastal areas, ii) high altitude wetlands and iii)
wetlands in the Sahelian zone.
- Contribute to and increase understanding of ecosystem based adaptation for merging and delivering
integrated approaches to adaptation.
This action pledge relates to the NWP work areas: adaptation planning and practices, research, technologies
for adaptation.
