Compendium on methods and tools to evaluate impacts of, and vulnerability and adaptation to, climate change

The UNFCCC Compendium on methods and tools to evaluate impacts of, and vulnerability and adaptation to, climate change is designed to assist Parties and other potential users in selecting the most appropriate methodology for assessments of impacts and vulnerability, and preparing for adaptation to climate change. The Compendium was developed in 1999 and updated in 2003, 2005, 2008 and more recently in 2009.

At its 28th Session, the SBSTA requested the secretariat to develop, by its thirty-second session and in collaboration with relevant organizations, institutions and networks, a user-friendly version of the Compendium.

In collaboration with a large number of organizations, institutions and networks present at the International Workshop on Mainstreaming Adaptation to Climate Change: guidance and tools, Berlin, Germany, 28-30 May 2009, the secretariat updated relevant existing entries and added new entries related to mainstreaming climate change adaptation into development cooperation.

To make it more user-friendly and easily accessible, the compendium is now available online, with all entries searchable through three filters: sector (e.g. agriculture, forestry, etc), theme (climate scenarios, impact assessment, etc), and type (e.g. guidance document, modelling tool etc).

To ensure that new, robust and practical methods and tools are included in the compendium, and the current entries up to date, please send your suggestions for new entries and updates to existing ones using the form.
