Practical Action Action pledge

Practical Action is seeking to strengthen livelihood security among poor communities that are vulnerable to natural disasters through a number of awareness raising and knowledge sharing activities:

• Documenting and publishing useful experiences from work on community-based adaptation in South Asia;
• Producing and disseminating audio-visual material that could help enhance the knowledge and skills necessary to adapt to climate change;
• In the future we intend to build upon Practical Action's current experience in using participatory video to help capture local knowledge in a manner that is owned by and shared with communities;
• Undertaking projects in order to establish best practice;
• Work to develop of an analytical framework to guide planning and analysis of adaptation.

This update was provided as a contribution to and is summarised in the Nairobi work programme publication "Action Pledges: Making a difference on the ground. A synthesis of outcomes, good practices, lessons learned, and future challenges and opportunities".  Practical Action also contributed substantially to Chapter 6 "Scaling up community-based adaptation actions."
