| Description
|
The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) is responsible for promoting international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space. UNOOSA is the Secretariat for the General Assembly's Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS). The Committee Services and Research Section (CSRS) provides secretariat services to COPUOS, its two Subcommittees and related working groups. The Programme on Space Applications conducts workshops, training courses and pilot projects in topics such as remote sensing, satellite navigation, satellite meteorology, and basic space sciences. UNOOSA also operates the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER). |
