Action Pledge
Adaptation space: GCAP is developing the Adaptation Space, a knowledge management service that will enable and provide access to the foremost climate adaptation resources on the Internet and become a catalyst for building extensive professional communities of practitioners and experts. The Adaptation Space is proprietary, with GCAP being responsible for the overall database and for identifying leading knowledge partners. The Adaptation Space is not another stand-alone platform but is designed to sit within the existing information world and take advantages from the semantic web approach. It is developed using use cases, ensuring that the information provided is fit for the purpose intended by the user and our Clients’ needs. The African Development Bank is the first client that will use components of the Adaptation Space.
Professional certification through contract learning: The Adaptation Academy (i.e. Academy) is a practical training programme on all issues relevant to adaptation. It is designed to train adaptation practitioners in the most up-to-date best practices and is a nexus for climate change adaptation development. The Academy is an intensive training programme, broken into two phases. The first phase is a 3-week Foundation Course, which meets emerging professional needs and skill development in adaptation. The second part consists of a unique contract learning model that builds off the training of the Foundation Course but is centred around the participant’s selected area of focus. The contract learning leads to professional certification. |
