Expert groups of the Executive Committee for Loss and Damage
 
The COP empowered the Executive Committee to establish expert groups, subcommittees, panels, thematic advisory groups and task-focused ad hoc working groups to help execute work of the Executive Committee  in guiding the implementation of the Warsaw International Mechanism, as appropriate, in an advisory role, and report to the Executive Committee (see Decision 2/CP.20, paragraph 8). 

The Executive Committee has established the following expert groups to date:


Task Force on Displacement
 
What is the objective?
To develop recommendations for integrated approaches to avert, minimize and address displacement related to the adverse impacts of climate change
When was it established?
September 2016, at Excom 4
What is the relevant mandate?
Decision 1/CP.21, paragraph 49

Technical Expert Group on comprehensive risk management approaches
 
What is the objective?
To provide technical support and guidance on comprehensive risk management and transformational approaches
When was it established?
September 2016, at Excom 4
What is the relevant mandate?
In the context of Action Area 2, activity (d) of the initial two-year workplan of the Executive Committee and may also support the Executive Committee on its efforts to undertake Action Areas 5 and 7 of the same workplan

Expert Group on non-economic losses
 
What is the objective?
To develop inputs and recommendations to enhance data on and knowledge of reducing the risk of and addressing non-economic losses, including how to factor these into the planning and elaboration of measures to address loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change
When was it established?
April 2016, at Excom 3
What is the relevant mandate?
In the context of Action Area 4 of the initial two-year workplan of the Executive Committee
